I love this combo! However instead of real peanut butter I use raw almond butter and mango for this shake. Why? Because peanuts can impair your immune systems, especially in large doses. Peanuts can actually induce cold sores and I used to get nasty ones. I had them for as long as I can remember UNTIL… I learned how bad peanuts were for your immune system. Then I stopped eating peanuts and have not had a single cold sore in years. I think the almond butter tastes better anyway and it is better for you. I love healthy treats. I hope you will too!
6 oz almond milk (see my recipe)
1/2 cup frozen mango
1 frozen banana
1-2 tsp raw almond butter (I buy Woodstock brand because it’s so yummy. It’s a bit more in price but well worth it.)
1 tsp maple syrup to taste
2 T coconut oil
1 dash Himalayan sea salt
1-2 cups ice
Blend all the ingredients except the ice in a blender until it becomes creamy.
Add ice and continue to blend to the consistency of shake. (If possible use a Vita Mix or other power blender.)
If you are using a food processor, pulse and scrape the side to ensure an even texture.
Serve immediately or cover directly and keep in the freezer.
